I had some issues with mine where it would start missing and run really rough. On closer inspection I started to notice air in the fuel line running from the filter to the injection pump. This was made worse when I jiggled it. I replaced that line and the problem went away. Before replacing it however I wrapped the connections around the filter housing with plumbers tape which temporarily stopped air getting into the lines. I suspect the o rings in the connections eventually perish or wear thin allowing enough air in to cause problems. Also check that the drain screw on top of the fuel filter is closed tight (but not overtight) I’ve read of air getting into the system that way as well. |

It does sound like an air lock in the fuel system.

This sounds a little like something I had.
