If your fl2 was older I’d say have a look at the micro switch in the tailgate handle. The original version was notorious for filling with water, corroding and giving these symptoms. It’s got to be worth a look and it’s a relatively cheap fix you can do yourself. |

Thanks for the advice, there does not seem to be anything wrong with the rubber handle physical , nothing looks perished , will try find a post of guide in taking the handle apart to get access to the switch |

Mine looked ok too, even when I took it out (I didn't have your problems) but replacement fixed it. I think they have had several redesigns of that part. |

Thanks for your reply , did you purchase a whole new handle piece ? Do you remember the cost , did you for it yourself ?

Mines a 2013 and I had to replace the tailgate switch a couple of years ago. It looked fine with no water or corrosion evident but a new switch fixed it

Hi Jenks thanks for your reply , was it easy to take the handle off the back, I have watched a video on YouTube of it been taken of the boot, bit this was in an 08 which is a slightly different handle , is just a couple of screws on the plastic surround , then 6 bolts to undo to take the whole hand off.

I had the same switch issue on a 2010 LR2 (just a few weeks ago). It would randomly open once I started the car.

I had the same issue myself on my previous FL2, a replacement switch solved it.
