PAS advice req. while in the Outer Hebrides! | |
Hi everyone, we’re currently in the Outer Hebrides with the Freelander 2. Before leaving I had the steering rack and reservoir replaced. Today a similar noise to a worn steering rack started. But it’s not necessarily on steering, more under load when turning the steering wheel.
Steering feels fine, so I’m presuming it’s a noisy pump. I’ve been nursing the car so that when the noise occurs, mainly under load, I ease off as much as possible to reduce causing further damage. After driving for around 30 miles, I noticed the noise stopped for a while, noticing a slight noise, then nothing again. I’m pretty certain it’s coming from the steering, but the steering performance hasn’t deteriorated.
Land Rover garage I use is closed. I wondered if anyone else experienced anything similar, and what are the chances of making the 700 or so miles home!
Thanks
Simon
