Haldex

57 needs MOT so thought would get garage to do usual oil and filter etc. Also thought might get them to do the Haldex oil and filter as well and possibly the auto box fluid.
Now how long should these tasks take and with the Haldex , being a 57, I think there is no software issues and is
quite straightforward.

'Great Britain' and 'UK' are not synonymous.

The reason for Simons confusion I believe that he lives in NI as do I. We donโ€™t have 57, 59 etc on our plates, just three letters followed by up to four numbers. We do have UK reg cars here by the way and also ROI reg.

I presume yours will will have a Gen 3 Haldex.
The problem is that there are 2 filters. One is a replaceable one accessed via a cover plate. The other is a washable pump filter - the pump needs to come out to get at it. Unfortunately its often the pump filter which gets clogged up and so its not solving anything by just changing the one filter. I doubt many garages remove and clean the pump filter though. (loads on Utube about this)
With Gen 3 all this can be done with Haldex in place - though its not easy and a bit of the pump casing may need to be filed down to get it past the propshaft flange.

The last of the FL2s with Gen 4 also have a huge flange which needs to come off as well as the haldex and makes the whole process that much harder - personal experience. Jules

Am also assuming is Gen 3 version. I will run it past the garage regarding the 2 filters. And what about autobox fluid change is that "straightforward"?

This videodemonstrates the two filters :

But his filling is incorrect - you have to remove some after filling to the plug level.

There are several ways to change the auto box oil.
The problem is that a significant amount of old oil remains in the torque converter when the oil is drained from the bottom of the gearbox. So new new oil will mix with old when you drive the car. You can replace about 92% of the old oil with 3 exchange cycles.

Alternatively some garages use a continuous flushing machine to exchange the oil in one go.

Because there is no dipstick you use the inner sleeve of the drain plug to set the level - by in effect over-filling then let it drain out to the inner sleeve level at about 60C when the gearbox is running and after the shifter is moved through the gears. Jules
