Hello Everyone,

I have a FL2 2007 TD4 A/T with a intermittent starting problem. I just found out when it will not start, but could not define what the problem is.

While removing the key after stopping the car, normally there are clicking sounds from relays. But sometimes there is no clicking sound. After a no relay clicking stop process, when I put in the key to start the car, I can not hear the normal clicking sounds of the starter relays but all lights, dashboard etc. works normally but when I press start, I hear only one click (from starter solenoid probably) but apart from that nothing happens. I remove the battery and lock/unlock the car a few times, then the car works.

What I did is;

-Changed the steering column lock
-Changed the key hole
-Cleaned the starter solenoid
-Checked the battery (12.8V)

But I still have the same issue.

When I connect to diagnostic at mechanics, the main trouble codes possible with this failure are;

B1026-52 – Steering Column Lock system programming failure
B10A2-00 – Crash input
B1024-08 – Start control unit, bus signal message failure

Would really like to have your opinion. What can be the reason to prevent relays from releasing?

When you remove the key does the steering actually lock ?

Sounds like it’s a faulty steering lock it’s quite common. I see you have changed it but if it doesn’t work ?

Dear SYFL2 , yes I already changed it. I read similar comments in forums but in most of them, even tough the steering column is not locked, there is a failure message in dashboard like "Steering Column Locked". My situation seems different. There is only one thing left before checking all the cables, relays, fuses etc. which is total madness.

I will change the dashboard, because locking info is transmitted to steering column lock via dashboard. I will update here about the process to be helpful to others in similar situation.

After fitting the new steering lock it needs to be configured to the car. Groucho Marks once said. I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member. 😬

Yes I did, but there is no "Steering Column Locked" message in my car. Never seen it actually. Same symptoms but different sickness

It’s a strange one this is.

Hello everyone, I changed the dashboard. And everything seems fine for two weeks. Not a cheap solution, but at least the car is working.

I’ve never heard of changing the dash.
