LTB00782 would disagree that it is an old wives tale, but having re-read the TOPIX instruction, it specifies;
I had always been of the belief that the Autobox was the same pre and post facelift, along with the Transmission Control Module. Perhaps the 'self learning' came in with different software at the facelift point? The LTB concludes with;

You quoted the errors from the engine ECU. Anyway, there is no reason for an automatic geabox to drop to neutral during normal functioning. Not even after an engine and/or abs problem. It's a safety issue. You cannot leave the car without drive, no matter what. Even when the autobox is failing, it should automatically by design select third gear during limp mode. |
