LTB00782 would disagree that it is an old wives tale, but having re-read the TOPIX instruction, it specifies;

I think we’re saying the same thing, i.e. there is no SDD routine for calibrating the auto box after an oil change but it may have to do a bit of relearning by being driven for a few miles.

There are 3 types of things that can be erased on the autobox:
1. Driver style
2. Solenoid adaptions
3. Oil degradation

Now let's see each of them...
1. There is no need as the box will re-adapt itself after a short while, but it can be "blanked".
2. Only required after changing something that affects the PWM/linear type solenoids operation (valve block or individual solenoids, autobox ECU, etc.) and there is a simple procedure that must be followed to quickly do it. If it's not performed, don't worry as the box (new solenoids data) will also readapt itself, but in time.
3. Although it's not really a calibration as it has nothing to do with the box real operation, this is the thing that must be done when changing oil, in order for the box to not (falsely) flag a too degraded oil in the future.

I, for one, I never erased anything in the box and I regularly perform a partial change at each service interval.
The box never missed a beat and, because of my driving style, has not accumulated enough points to flag a degraded oil.

This could many times be caused by a low oil level, but I suppose that this is not the case, because you correctly refilled the box and checked the oil level with the engine running, right? If not, you could be about 1.5 liters short...
But if you correctly topped up the oil, then I am afraid that you will (soon) need a new valve block.

Oil level is correct, checked with engine running 2 seconds in each gear
It seems to be improving less neutrals etc

I use a 'saved' copy of this all the time to try to understand how the FL2 works.

It is very large, and my tip is to use your browser's "Find on Page" feature to find, and highlight, what information you are looking for.
