I recently unknowing joined the 'Dealer has stolen/lost my locking wheel nut key' club, having rang around the local(ish) dealers to me they are all 'bring it in and we can sell you a new set for 90+vat'. And one of them saying it would take several hours of work to 'chisel off the old locks' on top of that.

I found this website, they claim to be able to sell a replacement for 40, just need to send them two pictures, and proof of ID

They seem to have some good reviews on trustpilot, but I'd hope someone here might have some experience?

Really, why bother, just take it to a dealer, ask them to remove the locking wheel nuts and replace them with standard one's, cost me about £12.

Lets face it, if they think they can nick a freely wheel then good luck, the standard jack barely lifts it high enough.  MY2014 SD4 XS

as above ^ just call round to your nearest dealer or ask any owner you come across to try their key on the off chance it fits make a note of the key number/letter and buy a new key,
if you get to the dealers (most use their own set of keys so they dont have to find the customers one!) just ask them to use their set to confirm which key you can buy.

Our local ind really did loose the key nut from one of our previous RRS, I called at our local (friendly) car dealer who had 3 or 4 cars in stock and second one we tried matched, told the ind and he sourced a new key nut
(had a go on the lottery as well but nowt!)

Unless it's a new model vehicle, theft of wheels is now rare. Most vehicles today come with alloys as standard, unlike 20 years ago, so there's no real market for nicked alloys like there used to be .
Get a socket, bash it on to the locking nut and remove it, then replace with a standard wheel nut

Mine have plenty of scratches so no one would want them anyway! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

But yours are “tiddly little ones” as opposed to Poodle rims, so they would want them anyway

Yes, I used them for a Range Rover Sport (2018). They were fantastic, main dealer wasn't interested in helping as I did not have the wheel nut security code. They sorted out the problem with no code necessary and supplied the genuine Range Rover wheel nut key at a fraction of the cost of having them removed and replaced. 10 out of 10, would highly recommend.

Do you have the document wallet as supplied with the car? In mine I just found a scrap of paper with the wheel nut ID on... I thought I had a card with a single letter identifier but found this document tucked away amongst the other stuff in the wallet. Every day a school day eh




The ID appears in the grey box below 'LAND ROVER’

I have one of those,the bag the nut was in also had a brown dot on it don’t know if that’s significant or not.

I think the dot on the my little ziploc bag is green... May be a simple guide to a replacement.

dealers have master sets and don't use customers locking wheel nut tools.

I wonder what proportion of people on this forum don't actually own a FL2? I have found over the years that LR owners tend to be quite practical and open to giving all sorts of advice from plumbing, gas boilers, watches etc and a lot of people seem to stay on the forum even if they don't have a LR any longer.
