While there’s possibly an element of risk to using a Chinese made copy of the Drew Technologies MongoosePro, I have been very happy with the one I bought from these folks - http://www.obd2shop.co.uk/wholesale/v137-j...rover.html

My understanding is that, unless you have a paid subscription for IDS/SDD updates, you are not able to do software updates to the most recent JLR specifications. What you can do, however, is perform actions that are available within the V130 software. I have, for example, activated a new key and switched on the 'Scandinavian' headlight mode. I plan to fit a new throttle body soon and there is a calibration function within SDD for this.

Before deciding to go down the 'clone' route I did briefly consider the GAP IID tool but, apart from its considerable cost, its main drawback was the limited number of things that it could be used for on an FL2. It can't, for example, activate a new key. I suspect that any stand alone device that has the full functionality of the JLR software is not going to be cheap. |
