While there’s possibly an element of risk to using a Chinese made copy of the Drew Technologies MongoosePro, I have been very happy with the one I bought from these folks - http://www.obd2shop.co.uk/wholesale/v137-j...rover.html

Together with V130 of the JLR IDS/SDD software I can - in theory at least - do just about anything needed.

YMMV,

@Simon J, given your caveat, the device and software you reference can also update say the transmission, etc. sensors to the most recent JLR updates?

My understanding is that, unless you have a paid subscription for IDS/SDD updates, you are not able to do software updates to the most recent JLR specifications. What you can do, however, is perform actions that are available within the V130 software. I have, for example, activated a new key and switched on the 'Scandinavian' headlight mode. I plan to fit a new throttle body soon and there is a calibration function within SDD for this.

There are reports that the software provided along with the 'MongoosePro' cables can have faults but I got mine through a Jaguar forum and it came installed in a virtual image of Windows 95 which runs perfectly happily on an old ASUS netbook running Windows 7. It’s not very elegant, nor quick, but so far, so good.

Before deciding to go down the 'clone' route I did briefly consider the GAP IID tool but, apart from its considerable cost, its main drawback was the limited number of things that it could be used for on an FL2. It can't, for example, activate a new key. I suspect that any stand alone device that has the full functionality of the JLR software is not going to be cheap.

@Phil.Richards

What year is your FL2? If up to 2012 & you already have a Nanocom Evo, just pay the money & it will do all that you desire.

I have been using BBS products for about 13 years now & have never had any real issues with them.

If it's a post 2012 model, then I don't think the Nanocom covers them yet, so better to look elsewhere in that case.
