It’ll be fine to do that and you’ll get no faults on the dash but even easier would be to just de-adjust them with a flat screwdriver through the hole in the disc/drum until they are not touching (spin the disc to check) and then drive the car. They do get all rusty and cruddy though and it’s not unknown for the linings to break away from the shoe and rattle around inside the drum. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

I had a squeaking/squeeling noise from one of the back brakes. On stripping the brakes down I found a handbrake shoe holder had come off. I just renewed all the brake bits inside the drum. An easy and inexpensive fix. |
