Removing parking brake shoes

Would I have any problems if I removed my parking brake shoes and drove the car to try to find a noise. I do believe it’s one of the parking brake parts inside the hub, but I’d like to remove everything and drive it to make sure. I just need to make sure that I won’t have any fault codes or warning lights come on before attempting this.

It’ll be fine to do that and you’ll get no faults on the dash but even easier would be to just de-adjust them with a flat screwdriver through the hole in the disc/drum until they are not touching (spin the disc to check) and then drive the car. They do get all rusty and cruddy though and it’s not unknown for the linings to break away from the shoe and rattle around inside the drum. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

I had a squeaking/squeeling noise from one of the back brakes. On stripping the brakes down I found a handbrake shoe holder had come off. I just renewed all the brake bits inside the drum. An easy and inexpensive fix.
