Hoping someone can help here.

I've posted in another thread that I'm replacing my head unit and am trying to find the right solution to which conversion kit to use. 1 seems fairly simple and doesn't require any new wiring to be run,but does seem to be limited in that speaker levels/fader can't be controlled, and the parking sensors MAY need an extra converter to work. The second is twice the price and requires an amp bypass, plus a new amp if I want to keep the sub.

The issue with the second option is that I'd need to run cables from the head unit to the boot space where the amp and sub are.

What is the best/correct route as I don't want to go pulling carpets and panels up and running cables in unsafe or incorrect routes.

I ran cables from dash centre to rear tailgate for reversing camera and rear view camera for caravan following existing wiring looms.

Under dash to left footwell side.
Behind panel to passenger door cill (pull off door rubber for access)
Behind b pilar trim bottom to rear door cill
The next was trickiest havin to remove whole rear trim panel from boot side, but it does make access easier.

You may be able to do same on off side as I think audio bits are on that side, but access across dash may be more difficult with pedal box and steering column in way.

Thanks Andy, that's helpful. I was worried about going past steering and pedals so makes sense to go on the other side. I take it there's enough space along the sills for a couple of extra cables? FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

I guarantee you will break some if the trim clips taking the rear panel off, so order some of these in anticipation:-

The panel clip part numbers are halfway down this page. Also lots of photos with panels off. The boot panel clips you will most likely break, or at least partially & then the panel will rattle, so get some more, 7 per side.
