Password protect a USB drive

I want to password protect a USB drive as I need to post it to someone who is not internet connected (they do exist).

I'm looking for a free program that I can download onto the drive, so any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks. Updated- Waiting for a Scotland v England 6 Nations home win. 24th Feb 2018

If it's a SanDisk you might be able to use SanDisk SecureAccess (not sure if it's particular to certain devices)
