Reduced performance

Hi, I'm new here but have an FL2 for almost a year. Being experiencing a problem for some time now. Car reduces performance, without any warning lights on dash. It started doing it during last winter, especially when spending long time stuck in traffic. Now, during hot summer days its doing it more often. If a drive a continuous drive, the car drive normally but if I stop for some time with engine still running and I drive again the car has no power. If I stop and leave the car off for some time it will be back to normal again. what might be the problem please? Anybody had the same issue?

To be honest, it could be caused by any number of things. You will need to read the fault codes to narrow it down a bit.

There was a recent post from someone with a similar problem. A member (Alex-Pescaru I think) suggested(correctly) that it was a faulty fuel filter that was causing the fuel to overheat and the engine to go into reduced power in order to protect itself from damage. The filter has a little bimetal valve that should allow fuel to circulate properly. If the filter is faulty or a cheap one this valve can stick causing the fuel to overheat. Fitting a genuine Land Rover (Purlux) fuel filter would cure the problem. Might be worth a try. Thumbs Up

Of all the services and work i did on the car, the fuel filter was never changed. The previous owner said that it was changed by him before i bought it. Will have a try and change it with a genuine one. Will let you know wat happens.

Thanks a lot for your help.
