Sump Removal - Is there an easy way??

Hello All,
My lovely FL2 2.2 TD4 (07) recently suffered the tragedy of the exhaust camshaft snapping at the fuel pump end. I have sourced new cams (Huge thanks to Rich) and stripped all the top down. I was able to find 6 large pieces of fractured camshaft so there should be little if anything in the sump...But, being the thorough chap I am I have drained the sump and want to remove it for cleaning.

That thing is properly stuck on though ! Does anyone have experience or know of an easy way to remove a sump without damaging the sump pan or mating surface on the bottom of the block?

Thanks all

Mike

Tried to remove the sump pan on mine lasts year as I thought there was an oil feed problem. Took all the bolts out but couldn't shift the thing. Unfortunately I just gave up in the end as my issue was something els. I would think the only thing to do is try and force a thin blade scraper between the pan and the block.
All I can say is good luck. Thumbs Up Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.

Cheers Gasman,
Blade between the pan and block was the way forward...but it was a tough nut to crack !
