Hi havent been on for a while due to ill health.
My last post was more than 12mnths back.seems along time when you think about it... bit ironic as i was sat doing the usual 1 evening on here reading posts and such that brought my problems to light.
Had been suffering from chronic head aches for a few months on and off after using the ipad. So decided to get checked out. After a few tests and bloods i was sent for a MRI wich when the results came back wernt the best news. It was found i had a tumour of about walnut size residing behind my left eye .. so the last 12 months have been a bit of a blur to say the least ..things are hopefully on the up now so here i am again to ask my silly Q and annoy everyone..
So anyway back to the question in hand . Sat in the pub last saturday with a very good friend who for some reason bought himself a volvo xc60..
Doesnt quite tickle my pickle but each to there own so the conversation got on to gearbox's and oil changes. My friend was adamant that the freelander and 2.4 D5 auto use the same box.. now me being me wasnt sure if this was true so thought disagreeing was my best option as makes the argument more fun... so i tell him i changed the oil on my freelander 2 myself following a very good write up on this very site. My friend wants his doing but again is adamant that his has to be done by someone who has access to the volvo software vida. As the adaptation needs resetting afterwards. So my argument was if its the same box how come i didnt have any of that palarva when i did mine? So my question is are they or are they not the same box? Am i going to have to eat humble pie the next time we sit in the pub or can i sit with a smug grin on my face...
Im sure there are plenty of you who have lots more knowledge on this so could someone put me out of my misery....

Many cars use the 6 speed auto Aisin Warner AW TF-80SC. And yes the XC60 uses the same autobox.

Does anyone know why if the same box does the volvo have to go through the rigmaroll of having the adaptation reset? Or is it just a volvo gimick and ploy to make you part with your hard earned?

Up until the day the box will tell us that we have a very "old" oil inside that need to be changed...
