Changed front brake pads on 2013. & Rears now done

Hi,
I know there are plenty of threads on changing the front brake pads but not sure if anything had changed for the 2013 model with rear epb so just to add a few comments, as just changed my front pads today (rears still to be done)

All parts ordered form Advanced Factors at the weekend as they had a 10% off code Thumbs Up

wheel off, pop the large spring retainer off the pads, pry bar the pad/piston back slightly, plugs out from the slider pins and remove the pins Exclamation
these were 7mm allen bolts I had a 6mm or 8mm Sad but a 45 Torx worked for me Thumbs Up
lift caliper away (tie up?) clean everything up and push caliper piston back in Exclamation
I used a G clamp before removing the old pad
watch the master cylinder level when pushing the piston back
new pads in place and caliper back on, slider bolts in and caps on, large spring pad clips back on Exclamation you dont need brute force for this just a bit of gentle levering working the peg that goes into the floating caliper and the arm onto the carrier
push brake pedal to get the pistons back out check around and wheel back on
other side done and test drive (try your brakes as you move off Shocked )

So not many tools needed but a 7mm allen socket would have been nice Rolling Eyes

I did order a "fitting kit" which are the large spring clips, not sure there needed but they do look better Confused
also ordered a "guide sleeve kit" this is 2 slider pins, 2 rubber bellows and 2 end caps, (does 1 side) would not bother with these again, I did change them but the bellows were still fine and flexible and the pins only needed a wire brush on them, just cleaned the other sides and reused.

So nothing really new just a reminder of what to do and have you got a 7mm allen socket (or T45) Laughing

Hi,
Both front and rear pads where advised as low at last MOT less than 1k ago
And it had all new discs about 28k ago, there is a slight lip starting but still look fine and nothing felt through the pedal Thumbs Up

Outer pad was down to 3mm and inner 4mm 28k from the fronts seems ok but
Believe rears done at same time Shocked they do seem to eat rear pads?

You say cleaned everything up I take it this includes some copper grease or something on the pins and back of the pads ? Sounds like it’s a job well done and saved yourself a few quid Thumbs Up

I found mine went through rear pads a lot quicker than fronts strangely

Hi,
I have done the rears this afternoon as well

the EPB into service mode worked spot on, and back off again when done Whistle

the near side pads were 3mm and the offside 4mm so the same as the fronts, discs the same so do believe it had both front and rear discs and pads last time about 28k ago

Note. got to speak to AF on Monday as ordered their Guide pin Kit ST1535 indicated on their site for the 2013> EPB but they are too big and dont fit Big Cry
UPDATE
conversation with AF and L/R and it seems it is possible to have the smaller diameter slider pins even on a 2013MY with EPB,
as thats what mine has got, if the head of the slider bolt is 15mm its the early type if its 17mm its the newer type, both still have 13mm securing bolts.
