This reminds me of a time when we tried to “upgrade” the house. We Looked at several/many houses, all for more money, yet every time we came home, we couldn’t believe how much nicer our current house was! Rolling Eyes

The FL2 is a hard car to match, let alone beat, without spending a lot of cash Rolling Eyes

Nearly there??

After all the searching and several test drives of various makes/models .....
I've taken an option on a used Ford Edge Vignale - loads of spec and a good solid car

Need to decide later today (Ooooooo err Mister) Shocked No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

Interesting wild card. I had to look it up to see what they’re like:

https://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/ford/edge/driving

Most significant piece of advice would seem to be not to buy the manual version. Was it as spacious and quiet as the article says?

Is it significant that this car is being discontinued?

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.motor1....-edge/amp/

Very sadly, if you expect nothing from Ford’s customer “service”, then you won’t be disappointed Sad I’ve seen people get better results out of LR’s goodwill on cars two years out of warranty and with over 100,000 miles, than I got on my brand new Focus RS*. Prior to that, it was a new Transit where the supplying main dealer would only accept mine in for any warranty work if I agreed to pay for the work first and that get a refund IF Ford eventually accepted the claim (and that was starting with the first claim I ever made!).

* A good example: The car was about 2 months old. I bought a pair of roof bars and removed the panels which allow you to bolt the bars into nuts welded into the seams on the roof. None of the nuts were useable as they’d all been completely filled with semi rigid sealant at the factory. Ford said that they wouldn’t accept a claim to get them cleaned out because “no one had complained about this before, so we don’t accept that it’s a problem”! I never was able to fit the bars and had to sell them, unused. And that was on an RS, Fords other “premium” brand Rolling Eyes

Isn't the Vignale just a styling exercise on the front end, sort of new grill for Europe, looks better than the US version but not as good as the original which was almost an LR copy my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Almost, it is a direct import with trim changes (for the better) and of course the Diesel engine, get the latest bi turbo if you can and DO NOT buy a manual version...... Regards

I recall when I had a few Ford company cars that there were sometimes warranty issues with dealers but when I mentioned that it was a company car and leased by Dial Contracts or Swan National their attitudes changed. These leasing companies seem to have a lot of power over the dealer networks 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

It looks like a small car but it is 4830mm long & 2100kg. Just as well Ford stick a 2.7L twin turbo in it. Discovery 4 4829mm long! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Indeed it is big, for Europe.....in the States it’s called a mid size SUV Laughing

It’s a good car though, built strong.....not exactly F100 tough (long time ago) but over engineered, just don’t expect it to traverse the Rubicon Laughing

Lovely in white Thumbs Up Regards

David

Brilliant looking car Thumbs Up you have probably bought the Freelander 3 that Ford Premier Automotive would have built , if they had retained ownership of the LR brand . Much sharper looking and more purposeful than the Discovery Sport . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles . Best Car I ever owned !
