As above - check the inboard faces of the discs as they can suffer with heavy corrosion. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Wouldn’t warped discs cause vibration through the car when the brakes were applied? The frequency of the shudder would be dependant on speed. Is there any tendency for the abs to kick in when braking? I’d have thought that a warped disc might cause the the brakes to try to release on that wheel. I don’t know how sensitive to speed difference at the wheel the abs is. Bearings tend to whine or drone. Droning from wheel and diff bearings can come and go. Rumbling suggests low frequency, something moving slower. |

Warped discs would definitely notice, certainly at higher speeds, with shaking in the steering. Are your tyres ok? |

More info might help: Age of car Mileage TD4 SD4 i6 when were brake components last changed Is the noise from front or rear, left or right , or is it impossible to say? Anything been changed/altered prior to the noise developing? Does pulling the handbrake whilst moving make an abnormal noise? Have you turned each wheel to see if it sounds different from the others? Have you eliminated engine/gearbox by braking whilst in neutral and idling ? Jules |
