Anybody who shells out £33k for an old L322 must need their (lack of) grey matter examining by a professional.

The comments below the story say it all for me . This guy is an attention seeking idiot. No contact with the dealer for 2 1/2 years and then pulls this stunt. The dealer should sue him.

This is all good Daily Mail fodder! Rolling Eyes

Righteous indignation and cobblers in a 50:50 mix Thumbs Up

I do find it funny that she’s bought her RR and now “has to walk her children to school”! I can see her parked over the pavement, blocking the school gates, to pick up young Tarquin & Anthrax to save them the 300 yard walk home now Laughing

Typical Daily Mail tripe. Would not believe a word of it. Just surprised they haven’t manage to shoehorn in immigrants, brexit and sideboob. Mind you the daughters face is an absolute classic.

Rolling with laughter he hired a contractor to paint the bilboard. Could have saved money and had the wife do it, after all she wasn't driving anywhere
And why would you remortgage to settle a car problem?

Surely buying new brakes for the Range Rover would’ve been cheaper than a billboard? 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I used to work in Bracknell almost next door to BMW UK HQ. I lost count of the number of times you would see someone standing at the roundabout with a placard saying something like "My BMW is a Lemon" etc Rolling with laughter 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE

See I have some sympathy. I bought an ewok from Williams Manchester. It was in my opinion dangerous, they could replicate the fault but couldn’t cure it. Sold the car after 6 months later and lost £8k. Certainly didn’t waste time standing outside with a placard- bought a DS from a different dealership and got on with life Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

Exactly!

He should have followed the advice of buying from a reliable dealer, with a complete service history, and a decent warranty. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

it looks like its LR Main dealer in the pictures.... if that's the case should have come with either balance of manufacturers or the approved warranty

seems to me like he is just being an idiot however as ive said before on here, the 165 point inspection on the approved scheme is down to the integrity of the dealer and not all of them do it properly so he may well have been sold a lemon

And the moral of this story is :
a) when you buy a hundred grand car well down the depreciation curve don’t be surprised if it’s worn out .The dealer will not have given it a £10,000 overhaul .

b) when you buy a big diesel and run on duties that are better suited to a Renault Clio petrol, don’t be surprised if you get DPF problems .

On a more general note,if you are daft enough to commit to nearly £ 70,000 to buy two bangers on finance , you are probably a haddock swimming in a sea of sharks . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles . Best Car I ever owned !

2023 Toyota Hilux invincible X 2.8 Auto .

a) in which case the approved LR main dealer should not be selling such a car if they are not prepared to rectify any and all faults under the approved sales and warranty scheme

b) totally agree.... short journeys - get a city run around

buying 70k worth of Discovery and FFRR from a main dealer be it on finance or cash should not really bear any risks to the purchaser that aren't covered by the warranties.

The guy is clearly an attention seeking muppet IMO but he shouldn't be penalised for buying from a main dealer when it goes wrong.
