I understand like many other cars these days, the Freelander 2 has plastic headlamp lenses.

My previous car was a 2006 Audi A6.
When I bought it, the headlamp lenses were immaculate, but over the course of the winter, the plastic started oxidising and would then never return to their former beauty- even with copious amounts of cutting paste and elbow grease. They looked awful.

I am concerned the headlamp lenses on my FL2 will do the same.
How can I prevent this from happening without harming the plastic lense?

What cleaners/polish do you use or recommend?

i have never had an issue with any of my three Fl2 headlamps

my last one was over five years old when i sold it, headlamps still unfaded

When I wax the car I do the lights as well there is some UV protection that's about it.

FL2 has been around since 2006 - and I don't recall seeing any with discoloured headlights.

Unlike some others, nissan micra comes to mind - wife's original lasted 5-6 years, aftermarket cheap replacements still going strong. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

There is always the old toothpaste trick used by dealers

Venture Shield film , got it on the bike head lights from new , stops severe impact damage (up to a point) , 100% scratch protection doesn't affect light performance and protects from UV. I've never bothered on cars but after eight years the bike headlights are still mint and you can see where the film has saved them ! Lenses of my 07 FL2 still nice and clear. I do use rainx on all the light lenses.

Rainx... interesting.

What about keeping the bug splats etc off the grille without wearing out the paint?

Been a while since I last had a flat-fronted vehicle.

Mothers aluminium cleaner cream (Amazon)

Saw it used on U tube.

Used it on sons very cloudy headlights on his Punto.

Used foam pad on drill/driver.

Two minutes later...… 100% perfectly clear.

Don't need to use it on my FL2 just yet.

On our Lexus (which we had for 10 years) after a few years I had to polish the headlamps (plastic) once a year to keep them clear and crystal looking, always only ever used original T-Cut.....worked perfectly. Regards
