VW performance SUVs

VW has started to produce higher performance SUVs, but if you read the reviews then I do wonder if the suspension has got a bit too stiff to cope with power and destroyed the ride.

What I like about the FL2 is the ease in which it travels down the road without jarring. If I wanted to corner flat out I would get a lower car. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

£43k and high road tax for a Skoda!

Much rather take a lower spec, the kodiaq is a nice looking car but not worth £43k IMO. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

£48k I’d rather have the Porsche Macan S, granted it’s smaller than the Skoda. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Zermatt Silver

Just another example of producing a vehicle for the burgeoning lease market . They just seem pointless to me . Sort of can’t afford a nice spec Q5 , here is a bargain basement parallel model so you can tell all your mates “ it’s a Q5 under the skin you know “.

I’d love a Macan , they are truely nice cars . unfortunately, to get a nicely specced one is going to add another £20k to the base model price . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles . Best Car I ever owned !

I have driven my son's Porsche Cayenne 3.0 and it's definitely faster than an FL2 and corners better but the ride is harder even before you switch it into sports mode with PASM. I actually prefer the softer FL2 ride. But remember that Porsche is about performance, Land Rover is about something else - not quite sure what though. 😀 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

That’s what I love about the Velar, it’s the best of both worlds.

Does all the Land Rover stuff but switch it into Dynamic on the TR and gearbox to Sport and it becomes a different animal, by no means a performance car but definitely a pleasure to drive. Plenty of poke from the 240 Ingenium 4 cylinder.

Looking a bit worse for wear in this photo

I’m thinking about the P300 2.0 next time or if it filters down to the Velar the new P400 3.0 i6. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Certainly looks a nice power plant. Should be very refined.

We have had a couple of new Skodas in the past. Good value for money bulletproof and the dealership were honest and a pleasure to deal with
We would still have Skodas now but VW cocked it up. Top of the range oktavia (L&K) £12k, three years and 150,000 miles later trade in value was less than £1k, replacement car was £22k 😳, so we bought the second Freelander 1 and look back fondly but will not be buying one anytime soon. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner
