United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 i6 HSE Auto Sumatra Black
3.2 rear driveshafts

Are these the same for all models i.e. petrol/diesel auto/manual ?
Getting conflicting info via the net. Some say suitable for all models, some say specific to engine/transmission type.
It's time mine were replaced as there is a little play in them that I can feel on the road.

I think they are all the same, can't see any reason why they wouldn't be. You could always ask these guys, the link implies they are all the same!

Thanks for the replies, it's much appreciated. As I first thought, looks like the driveshafts are all the same. Just the part numbers have been superseded.

RealBeale,

I know that you want to replace but have you considered taking off the rubber boot and repacking the Grease?

Thanks

Paul

P_gill - I did that before on my Freelander 1's, as the boots always split, but the internals were nearly always ok. But on the F2 for what it costs in time and effort, it's easier to just replace completely, especially as I can get genuine LR rear driveshafts for £69. They've done over 140,000 now so I think they're due a change rather than overhaul, especially as the exposed shafts are looking really rusty.

One my previous Freelanders.

They were only fitted as tpo had drilled the holes in the front and it was easier to put the "guards" on than to fill and match paintwork. Plus they came with the vehicle so didn't cost me anything. I had a set of clip in acrylic headlight protectors that I was going to fit instead, but again, didn't fit because of all the holes.
I may get some for the F2, if I can find some cheap enough.

These were available for the Freelander 1 in two variants.
1/ clear, as your photo.
2/ clear with a blackout area for continental driving.

I don't think the FL2 headlamps can use the option 2/ style above ... due to construction of the lens.

.
