A number of companies are doing it. Regardless of what people voted, the delivery of Brexit is unknown so, rescheduling planned maintenance shutdown. Lean automotive supply chains mean it's too easy to stop production through components not being on the line in time. Honda UK ( & I think Vauxhall) are doing the same, I don't know about Nissan and Toyota. |

Or the cynic would think that they are trying to deflect attention away from the fact that they have not hit their sales forecast for the year.... (again), and need to appease the TATA shareholders......(again)....before the business gets hived off....(again)

I assume you are talking about the poor management of Brexit by the government. It's hardly JLR, Honda or Toyota's managements fault that no one know what is going to happen after Brexit. I assume you realise all of those companies have announced shut downs because they don't know if they will be able to get parts delivered. |

I feel the overall problem is that more time, effort, and money is spent on presentation and improving the perception of a problem than solving the problem itself.

A few years ago I volunteered as a part time ambulance "First Responder" in my village so I had some first aid training, oxygen, CPR, Defib etc and if there was a 999 call in the area I would be called out to get there asap and often before the ambulance arrived. I was given a radio and told to put in various codes when I arrived on scene etc Often I wouldn't bother as you have more important things to think about. Then you would get calls from control asking exactly what time you arrived on scene. They were never interested in the state of the patient. It soon became obvious to me that my main purpose was to help them achieve the 8 minutes response target.

I note that Nissan were quite happy to accept the Government "bung" in the first place......will they be refunding this taxpayer money anytime soon?

It’s not poor management . It’s quire the opposite .The first responsibility of any corporation is to it’s shareholders. Any business should react to market forces to maximise those profits . The U.K. will not be the biggest European market for those cars so they are merely hedging their bets on tarrifs . As Renault are a 45% stakeholder they will have considerable influence on where to build cars
