Whats puzzling me is that I (with previous new cars) generally get close to the manufacturers published combined and long run figures.

27/32mpg is a fair way short of both figures, hence the concern.

Are you relying just on the computer or have you done any calculations on full to full to double check the computer? I always fill up and to be honest have found the computer quite accurate, (usually within 1 mpg) but maybe something is not right with your computer.

Both car fuel computer and tank brimming techiques seem to give pretty similar answers.

Here you go fellas, just come home from a journey from Bedford to Newcastle upon Tyne......505miles round trip.....average...yep average MPG was........45.8 miles per gallon Very Happy took an eternity just did it for the crack stayed between 60 and 70mph on the motorway, up to 80 a couple a times...but Jesus it is sole destroying.

Saw plenty of FL2's must have been EIGHT, never seen so many, mainly 07 plates, Tambora, rimini, light and dark blue and mainly stornaways....one towing trailer one towing a caravan nice and steady. Probably saw so many cause the journey was twice as long as it should have been Rolling with laughter

Trip computer claimed trip mileage plus range mileage left would have been 750miles on a full tank!!!! There is the challenge guys Thumbs Up

Just image how much fuel would be saved, emissions would be reduced and how relaxed everybody would be if they all drove within the speed limit............................ and just imagine how totally bored everybody would be too! Why don't the guys who shout and scream about safety and speed being connected just start harping on about lower speeds and saving money - then everybody would sit up and listen! How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?
Now driving - RRE Coupe Dynamic Lux Auto with Plus pack, Fuji White, Ebony, SD4 with tow pack

Great economy Carl

Can you give us all some tips.

Whats the best engine speed for round town use. Are we better changing up early, or keeping the engine in the 1500-2000 rpm band?

I must be doing something wrong, cos even on a decent motorway run, I don't seem to clear mid 30's, travelling at around 70mph.

Sorry for the delay mark, been away recently as you may have read Laughing

Just been down to the Cotswolds and Bath from Bedfordshire and returned having completed an average mpg of 37.1, which was all A road driving, twists turns, up/ down hills, town driving and the like, no motorway, just driving normally no effort to conserve fuel.

My astounding 45.8mpg was from Bedford up the A428 to Northampton J15 of M1 upto Newcastle - on -Tyne, into the town centre and then back. On the A roads i was coasting along in as high a gear as possible subject to the hills, between 1200 - 1500rpm not going over 50mph (which was also the speed limit). Mild accerleration down hills to gain momentum up the next hill. Not stopping at junctions or traffic lights where possible just reading them right before arriving, ie if lights on red on the approach slowed down way in advance so I could hit them with the car still rolling. On the motorway sat between 60 and 70mph.....MIND DEADENING!!!! so played the 'Spot the FL2' game on the way there and back to pass the time Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Rolling with laughter Only did it for the challenge, don't have enough time in life to do this everyday, plus I have a life which is enjoying the car, not boring my arse off looking at everbody going past me Whistle

So don't expect to get anywhere near the 45.8mpg figure unless you are being really sad, being realistic look to achieve in the region of mid 30's which I think is more than enough if driven 'normally'. Ihad taken a sad pill which was great for fuel efficiency, but crap for street cred.

In summary, don't buy an FL2 for fuel economy, buy it for fun and ability.

As others have seen , I got a SW upgrade last week, (for the radio lock out) , but it took over an hour, so I guess others things got upgraded as well.
My fuel consumption has decreased considerably , up from 34 to over 40 on a similar run Very Happy (home to Luton Airport avg 70++ on the M4/M25/M1 .. it was sunday!)
Interestingly, when I reset the MPG it counts up from 0, where before it started high at 40 and counted down.

TD4 Manual MPG

I have just returned from a trip with my 1500KG caravan connected, the trip was from stirling to oban and the MPG did not drop below 30mpg, I think I did very well considering the weight of the caravan, I was towing at an average speed of about 55 to 60 mph.
