I keep getting the p0505 "idle control" error code. As such, the Freelander can't be driven as it gets really bogged down on acceleration.
I've searched for hours on the internet to find both the location of the idle control valve to no avail, in the hope that it might just need to be cleaned , nor can I find a replacement.
I need the vehicle as I have to take my partner for an important hospital appointment and cannot afford to break down on the way.
Am I correct in assuming that on the 3.2, the IACV is integrated as part of the whole throttle body ?
If so, can it be cleaned or is a new throttle body the order of the day ?

Hummm! Yes, a throttle body can be cleaned. My forum reading recollections, a new throttle body has to be "coded" to the ECU to function efficently. @p_gill might have some thoughts.

I've had a quick look and the air intake hose clip on the throttle body side , typically is a spring type clip and it's facing the crossmember so that'll be fun trying to squeeze that in to submission !
I'm thinking of trying to release it all from under the vehicle. so we'll see how that goes .

That clip is dangerous but a vice grip or a plumbers adjustable pliers can do the job. The clip should be facing the top.

I have managed to locate a new purge valve at a very reasonable cost. However, I am having real difficulty in tracking down the throttle body gasket. Everywhere I've tried has come back to me as "unavailable".
Even ads that offer "Alternatives" to the genuine item , at a much discounted price, all show the upper intake gasket and not the throttle body type, despite claiming it matches part number 30650730.
I can't find the pipe from the purge valve , either.
Any help would be gratefully received , especially cheaper alternatives to the throttle body gasket.
