Hi,
I picked up a new-to-me 2008 LR2 on Saturday. Our LR2 has the technology package (Nav, Bluetooth, Premium Radio) and Lighting Package (Adaptive Xenon, etc.). I thought it had the cold climate package but, it does not. Does anyone know if the seat heating element is built-in to the seat? Could I just buy an "activation kit" ala Disco2 to have heated seats? I know I would be lacking the heated windshield and the heated washer jets but, if I could have heated seats, that would be enough for me.

I would have thought to keep costs down, heated seats are different to normal seats. Even if your seats did have heating elements in them, how would you switch them on? Do you have dud buttons where you contol the climate control temperature for it?

There has to look at an electrical diagram of FL2 for deciding

If you realy want them, go for some aftermarket heated cushions for your seats, powered from the cigar lighter.

They are way less expensive, and you can easily remove them on warm season. Just practical.
Otherwise you will have a lot of work to do to integrate them into the car electronics.
Just my 2 cents...

I looked at the electrical diagram. There is necessary a Module heated seat on each seat. The modules connected to Automatic temperature control module in a facia with one wire and to +12v.
If your Automatic temperature control module don't switch indicators it's necessary programming of it.

If it's not possible to do easily, I will probably just put up with it.
I was just hoping that it is a case of installing the switches and programming the car with the dealer laptop. If anyone knows for sure, one way or the other, I would appreciate confirmation.

In case you're interested, I googled that part number and found out that the part number is used across a range of Ford products. For example, the heated seat element to the Mustang is part number 7r3z-14d696a and 7r3z-14d696b. On the 2008 Ford F350 truck, the seat warmer part number is 6c3z-14d696a & 6c3z-14d696b. I'm willing to bet the heat element is the same across all of those vehicles. Only thing I'm a little iffy on is if the element is sized to the seat for the vehicle in question.

Thank you for your reply. However, my FL2 has the cold climate option. This morning it was -20 Celsius so I used the seat heaters. They were very good.

I am thinking to upgrade my HSE model with heated seats. Mine are electric but not heated. Looking carefully into the forum I have found some information but nobody has gone the full way to the end.
If you leave the extra (big) cost to the side, and you get the genuine elements plus the air-condition module plus the necessary looms is it possible to manage to install the heated seats without damaging any other part of the car?

one question from germany. is it possible that the 14D696A, 14D696B - heatings are the same like that in ford mondeo?
