I'm guessing it'll be ready round about the same time that Richard Branson's spaceship starts commercial flights..... by which time of course flying pigs will have made all other modes of transport obsolete |

It's been on Radio Newcastle all day that they are to be built in the North East - perhaps the plans are more advanced than the press article suggests No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

I hope Ineos can pull it off, although it will be a huge task. I certainly would like to invest in the company and the car. Its sad to see so many Landy Defenders doing good work across the country (and beyond) and knowing that JLR have little interest in meeting that requirement any more. The Land Rover brand nowadays means style above substance, competing for the same as all the rest volume sales rather than maintaining brand identity and being a specialist producer. Despite it's undoubted off road ability the Defender was poorly made with totally inadequate levels of secondary safety and it was in many respects under-engineered and over-priced. I frankly doubt if LR have the corporate will to deliver a fitting new Defender replacement so lets hope someone else can step up. |

The Ineos Projekt Grenadier has come into the news again recently (well at least in my area) as the talk is it will be built at Ford's Bridgend plant - in what form not clear if Ford build it or Ineos take over a proportion of the site.

I am sure that I have read variations of this story in the past, the only changes are where and when it may be built, it is going to include JLR or perhaps another manufacturer, and likewise changes to engine/drivetrain.

Ah yes, Jim Ratcliffe. The ardent supporter of Brexit who has now moved to Monte Carlo. He's had all the development work done in Germany (hence ProjeKt Grenadier). I will be quite surprised if it's made in the UK, but I imagine it depends on how much government subsidy it would attract. No news that I can see on their website: https://projektgrenadier.com/ Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Very convenient M4 access, probably low wages compared to other car plants,££££'s off WAG and will most likely pay for plant alterations,

The question you have to ask is "why any manufacturer would situate itself on an island" ? and then add to that, " an Islando that is hell bent on isolating itself from major trading partners " .
