Pairing a Samsung S8 to my 2007 Freelander 2

I have just received my new Samsung S8 smart phone. The phone eventually paired to the car but will not work. The contacts will not download. When making a call it shows it is dialling but nothing happens. My old phone, a windows phone paired ok. Does anyone know what I can do to get this working.

I had problems with my s9, wouldn't pair at all. Left it and tried again next day and worked fine, don't know why.... Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

My S8 has paired with my 2007 SE but the contact numbers will not download, just a load of gobbledegook. Took several attempts but its working ok now. I think I scanned with my phone to find MY CAR rather than the car to find my phone, found each other eventually.

Can make & receive calls but missed calls only show the phone number on screen not the contact name so difficult to return the call without looking at all the numbers in my contact list, not doing that.

You have to remember you are pairing a very new phone to a relatively old head unit. There are bound to be issues with compatibility as they could only guess at the future tech back in 2007.

The Bluetooth connection should always be possible as that tech hasn't changed much but the features and functions available will vary.
