Australia 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 S Auto Loire Blue
Electrial issues

I'm new to blogging so if I've repeated a subject I'm sorry. I have a Freelander 2 TD4, bog standard, VIN date 02/14. I have had some electrical issues that started a couple of months ago. The first was getting a "water in fuel" error "check handbook." In response to this I had the fuel tank dropped, drained, filters cleaned and put back. The mechanic told me there was a very small amount of water in the fuel. I had to do this because the car was cutting out or hesitating. I'm still getting the error and I've been quoted by a Land Rover dealer to replace a wiring harness part number LTB00646V3 for $190. Has anyone had this particular problem? The next problem I have is my Bluetooth stopped working. I've been told that the Bluetooth module has failed and needs replacement. On the quote I have listed "radio and cd player" with no mention of a module. This repair is quite expensive and I've been quoted $1500 to do this. Again, has anyone had this problem and can you offer any alternatives to what I have been offered by the dealer. Also, the part number is not listed on the quote. I really hope someone can offer me some advice. My car has only done 40 000 clicks and has had ongoing concerns with different things and I'm reaching a point where I will have to decide whether to keep the car or not. Sorry for being so wordy.

Lots of on going issues. Sad Trade it back to a LR dealer as its got some good value against a Discovery Sport or Ewok.

It will then come back around no doubt on a LR warranty and the dealer can afford to take the hits at his trade prices. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Firstly the mechanic working on your car is a moron, there was a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) on the “Water in Fuel” message ages ago which covered both Freelander 2 and Evoque which is a “free of charge” fix. So all the expense you went to was a complete waste of time and money.
As far as the rest of your problems please take it to someone who knows what they are doing and have appropriate diagnostic equipment so you have a clear picture of what is going on and then come back to us. MY15

Stuart you are a bloody legend.

As for the Bluetooth thing, I'd probably opt for an aftermarket head unit which will probably be far better than the factory unit. The retro-look modern unit I have in my 62 Falcon is fantastic. I'm looking at an Apple Car Play unit for the Freeo now.

$190 for a LR dealer quote is amazing, they charge about $300 to put air in a tyre.

Hyperbole, but you get my drift.
