Tyre prices

I last bought tyres for my car in mid-2016. Two Pirelli Scorpio Verde 235/65 17 cost me about £95 each fitted from KwikFit

Today, the same tyre costs £120 from KwikFit, and the only place cheaper is Halfords at £117.

So that's a 25% increase in 2 years. What's going on in the world of rubber?

Tried Black Circles? When I last bought four, they were giving triple nectar points, think that worked out about £40/50

try asda online, fully fitted at which ever fitters you want included. Common sense isn't very common.

Kwik Fit is probably the dearest tyre retailer you could choose. Try a small independent dealer.
I bought 4 x General Grabber AT3 in same size as yours from Mytyres which cost £406 but got a 10% discount on ebay Thumbs Up Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Thanks for that link.
I've found these https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/toy...01q-872685
for my 16" wheels. I know nothing about winter tyres, but I do know the Continental 4x4 contacts I have fitted did not perform well last winter on the main roads. 5:45 start meant I was the first vehicle out onto fresh snow in minus 7 temperature. They sure did squirm on braking.

I see the load rating and speed rating are lower, but surely they can't max out on winter ROAD driving ?

If the tyres you are looking at have an R rating they are no good for your car, they have a speed rating of 106mph, it doesn’t matter that you might never do it, the tyres have to be rated for what the vehicle can do, if you ere stopped and spot checked that would be a fine and points for each wheel and the car impounded until it was recovered or the tyres were changed.

Not quite true, if they are winter tyres (not tyres you use in the winter) then it is acceptable, but don't get caught with them outside winter months. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
2012 HSE SD4 In Orkney Grey now gone, best car ever.

Whilst the subject is slipping (no pun intended) towards the subject of Winter Tyres (i.e. designed with a softer compound etc specifically for winter) does anyone have experience of running Winter Tyres on the 18" rims which they have found to be "wow these are awesome" especially in the wet, close to freezing slippery, thin layers of snow on metalled roads. I'm in Aberdeen and got up to ice on the windscreen for the first time this year yesterday !! F2 3.2 i6 for the white stuff
F Type 3.0 V6 AWD for the fun stuff

I'm not sure why people are so dismissive of KwikFit.

The price of Pirelli Scorpion Verde 235/65R17 is now £116.50 (it was £120 a couple of days ago).

Maybe they read this forum!

Compare that with £126.60 from etyres.co.uk. The price at tyreleaders.co.uk is £97.30 delivered, but then you have to pay for fitting "from £14". I've been caught out by "from" prices before!

So KwikFit it is.

Cooper Weathermaster WSC Thumbs Up

Ran them on my Disco 3 for 2 winters, then the wifes Sport for a bit, and they still have 5mm tread left

Just put 2 onto our Freelander too, ready for this winter
