I'd like to ask some advice. I want to protect my LR2 (Si4, 2013) with a skid plate and a tank guard. I have found 2 options via this forum: Mantec and Rival. Does anybody have an opinion on which to prefer? As far as I can tell: Mantec is thicker, heavier, leaves room in between and hence comes at 1 cm ground clearance 'cost'. Mantec may be much tougher though. Also personally I don't like to looks up front of the Mantec skid plate. However, if they are better, I can leave with that. Thanks for your thoughts. |

I painted my Mantec sump/skid plate to match the car. The tank guard is essential once you’ve experienced the tank bottoming out on soft mud in a puddle, hitting something solid doesn’t bear thinking about. |

The Mantec guards were the ones that were fitted to the Land Rover experience cars, where they used to take a heck of pounding in their stride. I certainly gave one a good hard bash without any consequences beyond a certain amount of embarrassment!

I have Rival fitted to mine, a lot cheaper than mantec and they have done the job well so far, they have taken a fair bit of stick and saved my fuel tank without a doubt! |
