Dead hse i6

Wouldn't open yesterday, mirrors didn't move , central locking didn't open.
Entered with key through passenger door. Fob would not dock.

Battery dead. Charged battery overnight, car opened with fob, mirrors moved etc etc, fob docked.
Car does system check, won't start though, starter motor not even clicking.

Reading through the posts on here , they mention steering lock sensors and collision sensors etc, if anyone could offer any opinions I'd appreciate it..

To me it sounds battery related I know you say you’ve charged it but is it good ? Extra earth strap ? I’ve recently had the steering locked issue it was one of the messages came up on the display and was accompanied by lots of clicking from the passenger footwell. Also fob batteries get mentioned on here quite a lot.

Oh yes if you charged battery on the car it may be worth taking the cables off and leaving it half an hour .

Checking that the battery really was fully charged would be my starting point. Unless the car has been sitting for ages then the battery should not get totally flat unless either there is some power drain from something faulty or a faulty battery itself. If the battery is faulty then it is very unlikely that it will charge up fully so I would get that checked before looking elsewhere. Thumbs Up

Thanks for the replies. I disconnected the battery and shorted them out, left them like that whilst rac turned up.
Battery is fine, only 600a tho not 800a as should be, fitted by the rac prior to me owning it!

He reconnected battery and car fired 1st time. So it looks like i fixed it myself! Thumbs Up There is a half amp constant drain on it somewhere though, which needs finding.

Apparently there are a few faults in the history, but, his generic software doesn't go into detail. The car is 10yrs old so I'd expect that tbh.
