2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Orkney Grey
Time to say goodbye

After 4 years of really fun driving its time to let the Freelander 2 go. It has put a smile on my face nearly everyday and is one of only two cars that I have ever been sorry to see go.

So today - sadly, I will become a disco sport owner. I've heard lots of horror stories about them but can't afford to go to a full fat discovery, so can only have my fingers crossed that this one isn't too bad.

I'm sure I will be popping back to the forum for advice though and to continue getting my spares from Dan @ Duckworths!

Welcome to the dark side.

Your not loosing a Freelander, just upgrading to a newer version.

Stand back and waits for the fun.

Seriously apart from the adblue fiasco it's like a longer version of the FL2, shame about the fixed glass roof, and the lack of a spare wheel, but the drive is very similar. AND you still get to deal with the lovely LR dealerships. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Well week 2 of owning a Discovery Sport and it has already failed to start on me 3 times. Something to do with "Steering Column Locked". A quick wiggle of the column and putting the key underneath and it starts but its a pain in the A***.

The amount of non starting because of the stupid steering lock recently is worrying.

Change the fob batteries, about £1.20 and job sorted I suspect. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I had that the other day, turned out the key was in the house, not in the car as wife promised. (she can never find the keys in her handbag collection)

So id agree looks like a battery problem in your fob At work

The fob batteries are only for the doors/boot aren’t they? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Mine sulks every 2 years if it does not get new fob batteries. Won’t fire up without fob literally sat under the steering wheel, you get an error message and I have lock and unlock car again with me sat in it and fob as said under wheel. New batteries and all forgiven.

Bob you only get brownie points if the wife reads your posts AND she believes that you meant what you posted Very Happy

Typical trade off, the FL2 never needed batteries as it was charged by the docking station, but having to find the keys was a hassle for the wife (way too much stuff in her handbag/suitcase) the DS will need new batteries but is more convenient in everyday use. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
