Just thought Id share this with you.

This is the Gen 4 haldex as shown in the JLR workshop manual.



A tool is used to hold the flange whilst the flange nut is removed. It looks quite easy to make as the threaded holes are close to the rim of the flange.



However my 2014 FL2 has a Haldex flange that looks like this



Because this flange is so wide you cannot remove the haldex motor (and motor filter) until the flange has been removed. Believe me I tried as there are videos of people getting the motor out of a Gen 4 haldex without removing the flange - but not with this version.
Anyone made a tool for this later Haldex ??
It looks awkward as the bolt holes are a long way from the flange rim and I'm worried the bolts would simply bend - assuming I had any M8 bolts long enough - which I currently dont. Jules

I have removed that kind of flange once. IIRC, i placed my home made tool, similar to the LR one shown, on the back side of the flange and used bolts in the two non threaded through holes. Can`t remember that it was any issue at all. The extra ring fitted outside the flange acts as a vibration damper, added to the later models. I used a torch blower to heat up the nut before removal as it sits on some heavy thread locking compound. Proper tooling and leverage is your friend here. I used Loctite 243 on the threads on re-install.

Thanks, glad you succeeded - not a lot of room working from the back but in the end I concluded thats way to approach it. Unfortunately couldnt find thin enough bits of scrap metal to make a suitable tool - all Ive got is some heavy duty angle iron, so it will have to wait for another day.

The car is 4 years old with 34K miles and is running fine. I intend to keep it for several years more and dont want the Haldex or Diff going pop on me prematurely - which the FL2 has a history of doing.

Basically I dont believe JLR's "sealed for life" claim for the rear Diff or Haldex.
VAG and Volvo require a Haldex oil change/filter change around 30K miles as part of scheduled servicing.

So it seemed prudent to change the Haldex oil & filter, and whilst Im there chnage the diff oil too.

I've looked through most posts about the haldex, but no one seems to know what size the flange pinion nut is, and what the torque setting is,,,,,,any ideas please. gen 4 unit

The torque setting of the flange nut is 130Nm. Add a drop of loctite 243 to its threads prior to fitting.
