2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Narvik Black
Gearbox oil change

My 2008 has just passed the 92000 mile mark. Mainly made up of short' ish journeys of 50 miles, and a number of longer ones.
I get it serviced yearly by a mechanic mate of mine, but I've never had the gearbox oil changed. Would it be worth doing this with the next service (soon)

Thnaks.

And after the gearbox oil change , you might want to consider oil changes for :
PTU
Haldex unit (+ filter)
Rear Diff

Then all will be well - probably Smile Jules

thats about the cost of the oil Thumbs Up

"cars manual it shows as Castrol BOT 350 M3 = MTF97309 = GL4 75W80 and has a capacity of 2 litres,
You can choice which oil your happy with, I went for Mannol 8109 Unigear and bought 2x1L with a discount code for £11.50 delivered"

At that sort of price it can be a regular maintenance item not years and years

Thumbs Up .

Sorry didn't look to see what box it is, must be cheaper and easier to change than a auto. Common sense isn't very common.

Hello,

My 2010 Freelander has just hit 200k kilometers and I have bought 4 litres of adviced gearbox oil, and will get it changed whilst the next periodical maintenance.

However,
I just realised that something might be missing on the gearbox.

Any idea what the hole means in the photo in my gallery?

(i tried to add a photo to my post, but it directly went into my gallery)
