Take your time and clean and polish the sealing surface, you want it to last at least another 10 years.

I cringed a little when the guy in the video used sandpaper on the sealing surfaces... that can leave tiny grooves which might allow oil to flow out. If you use an abrasive you want it to be very fine, and also avoid motion that would cut grooves across the seal, ie use big circular motions following where the seal would sit so any groves are parallel to the seal. Whether it's a problem depends on the grit size and nature of the seal material, hard to say for sure. Very fine sandpaper is probably OK, but I'd try solvent first.

Canada 2008 LR2 i6 SE Auto Tambora Flame

Quick update but no pics.......pressed for hoist time again today, good thing I was early. I did review the video link Paul posted and the job went very smoothly! Removed maf, air box, engine bracket, part of the harness, & an extra earth installed by me and never touched the battery or battery box Thumbs Up ! It's helpful the have a buddy mechanic with tools and the video the review twice b4 job...... Laughing

The brake vacuum pump looked like it has been seeping intermittently for a while, the pump interior looks like a rotary engine deal. Anywho, with the right tools this job took just over an hour and is not difficult. The mating surfaces were pretty decent but now they are clean and shiny Thumbs Up ........no sanding but a bit of brake cleaner utilized. Most trouble I had was removing the nipple connector, new one going in was easy but the old one coming out took more time than it should have. Not sure why there are screws in the Volvo kit but I swapped them anyway and kept the old ones as they were perfect.
