A 10 mm socket a Phillips screw driver a mug of tea and 1 hour of your time it's fairly straight forward |

You need the later one but typically this goes wrong and its 2 mugs of tea.

I don't understand why this has been diagnosed as the solenoid.

It will be the water damaged micro switch beneath the tailgate strip, not the solenoid. |

replaced the tailgate opening handle and now all is well |
