So I'm driving along today and notice my steering wheel is in no way centered when I'm driving in a straight line. Centering it pulls me off to the left.

It has never been 100% centered but today it was visibly off.

I've included a photo of the wheel position when parked and a pic of one of the wheels, which is straight, as is the other one.

What's going on? Just had the clutch, dmf and slave replaced but can't imagine it's related.

Cannot afford any more fixes just now!!!

I guess something on the steering has been loosened and re-tightened (or not ) in the wrong position. Jules

steering wheel is disconnected at the bottom. if you look in the footwell you will see a pinch bolt just up from the rubber boot were the steering connects through the bulkhead to the steering rack.

As above. Tracking will not be out. They have disconnected the steering column to drop the subframe to get the gearbox out and didn't refit it in the same position. Shouldn't let a car go out like that. Take it back and get them to put it right. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

I spoke to the garage this morning and although happy to take a look he claimed they don't need to disconnect the steering for a clutch change.

So before I go back in on Tuesday, some info would be useful in case I'm being bull crapped.

*Should* the steering column have been disconnected in order to change the clutch, dmf and slave? Can it be done without doing so while still being installed properly?

Don't want to go in pointing fingers if I'm not right but likewise don't want to pay for a fix for something they didn't do right. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

Was it like it when you took it in? No. Was it like it when you drove it out? Yes. Then it’s something they did and they should put it right. If they don’t want to put it right free of charge, tell them you’ll get an opinion and a fix at a main dealer and if it’s their fault, you’ll be looking to recover the costs. There’s NO WAY a steering wheel would be off centre without someone disconnecting it and reconnecting it wrongly. It’s a lot more work to put that right now the subframe is back in place. Have a look at the splines/nuts and see if you can see any marks on them. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

There should I believe be a grommet around the shaft to stop noise entering the car. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Took it in yesterday morning and half an hour later they had sorted it. Didn't actually get the chance to ask exactly what they did but he said he had to make a small adjustment and apologised. No charge.

Steering is now straight and doesn't pull.
