electric seat problem

hi new to these forums so please be patient have freelander 2 hse 2010 with memory seats got in the other day and seat started reclining on its own would not go all the way back up .the backrest moves back and forwards but not forwards enough I am presuming there is some sort of position sensor problem as I hotwired the seat connector to manually get it back upright any body have a circuit diagram of seats or any knowledge of these the motor appears to be inside the backrest and a right pain to do anything with
thanks in anticipation steve

Can't help with any of the technical details but just to say that I've had this happen in the past, both the whole seat forward/back position and the seat back, in fact have the seat back problem again at the moment. I take it into LR and they fix it, I believe by just recalibrating the position sensors, but I don't know how they do it.

thanks simon I suspected something like that. sounds like an expensive 5 minutes work. tempted to leave it disconnected now I have the seat where I want it I am a bit wary of it happening again at the opposite end of the country and having an uncomfortable drive home

Could be handy if it was the passenger seat though.

memory seat problem sorted

after many hours on good old google I amassed a great pile of information all of it useless

I decided to try a similar procedure to calibrating sun roof

I held the seat adjuster against the stop and started the engine still holding it

after a few moments the seat started moving I moved it fully upright and then ,fingers( firmly crossed

in case it did not come back up) fully down after which it is working normally memories reprogrammed and all

now if I could replicate the problem on passenger seat( nudge nudge wink wink)

if this fails disconnect green multiplug under seat grey and orange wires go to backrest motor

12 volt will move seat if motor has not failed reverse the polarity to change direction

Thanks Steve, worked for me too. A virtual beer on its way to you.

Saved me a trip to LR and good to know for the future.
