Christopher would you mind checking the map date by following the video, and posting a pic of the version please, it would be interesting to find out what’s being sold as 2018/19. Many thanks |

Hi Christopher I have jut purchased the maps from the same supplier. When you updated your system did you go for a long drive, put on a charger or just went for a number of short drives or ..... as it takes 2 plus hours. Your experience would be a great help. |

I hooked it up to a battery charger/optimiser (CTEK MXS 5.0) on the driveway. Mine took the best part of 3 hours; and after it's done updated you're advised to switch the engine off, lock the car, and wait 15 minutes before using it. |

That is the latest map for Europe and UK, although dated 2018, the data for the map was collected during Quarter 3 of 2017. This is the usual timeframe for map releases, the 2018 map was only released by Here in the last few months. The maps will continue to be updated as the maps are the same as Incontrol touch pro maps used in new models |

I suppose it depends on how reliant you are on having brand new maps, bearing in mind that very few new roads have been built in recent years and probably none that you couldnt navigate along without Sat Nav. Also considering the Sat Nav on the FL2 is not very good in comparison to other systems, you might want to consider simply using your phone as Sat Nav - Google Maps or Waze are as up to date as can be and function very well - with real time traffic information etc You can use your phone as a dash cam at the same time, I believe. Plus you can set up navigation on your phone before you even get into the car. Jules |

Ah, right you are, thank you for the information. We have a Discovery Sport in the family with InControl Touch Pro (the bigger screen) as well....the Maps for that are updated/downloaded via the web quarterly - would the USB that they are downloaded to work in the Freelander do you think? Assuming that the mapping data is the same? |

If your system is getting on a bit, I'd use a smartphone (if you have one), with Google Maps. No need to worry about updates. I use it exclusively and I use it a lot. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

Tagging onto this thread as it seems most relevant. My Daughter in Law has a 2012 Evoque which sounds to have the same USB update system. This downloads to a HDD which can also store up to 10 CD's. THe sat nav stopped working and just says initialising so I tried uploading CD's to the HDD but the buttons to do this are not on the touch screen so I assume that the HDD is faulty. Does anyone know where the HDD is and how to access it?. I have asked on the Evoque forum but not received a reply.
