The Evoque is due to be replaced so deals should be easy to come by. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200 |

Colleague at work bought her VW Touran on PCP and was due to replace it earlier in the year. Spoke to dealers in advance and was told there was a 'shortfall' in the residual value of around £5000. When she queried it, they referred her to some clause in the small print (which of course very few people read thoroughly) so bottom line she had to find that shortfall before upgrading her car. She ended up keeping the car, with a new agreement in place, for about £50 pm less than the initial terms.

Are some pcp not where you can hand car back and walk away, maybe they have changed was the cost not due to going over the mileage allowance as that can be costly?

Many years ago, the government decreed that car adverts had to show the On-the-road price of the car being advertised. That seems to have been bypassed now by these monthly pcp deals - the adverts give you absolutely no idea what the annual or total cost of ownership is going to be.

One of my mates has his BMW on pcp his motorbike on pcp his wife’s car the same he has told me they are in this trap now after the last monster payment is due they have either got to get a loan to pay the last payment or start all over again with a new pcp, it’s win win for the car dealers. |

either chop it in or get a loan to finish the payments, its money due on your purchase, so either stick to a car you can afford anyway or feel the balloon payment as something to be feared. At work |
