Small oil leak from front of freelander???

I've recently purchased a 2008 freelander. Yesterday when I was driving the fuel gauge went from half to empty then back up to half then empty again so I was assuming there was a fault with the fuel sensor. When I got home I noticed oil on the drive not loads but enough for me to notice. I put a plastic sheet under the car to see where it was coming from and it looks like it's coming from the front. I'm going to ring the garage I purchased the car from tomorrow but though I would post on here to see if anyone knows what could be wrong and if these two issues could be connected??

As far as I know the sump gasket is silicon and prone to leaking after a time. The fuel gauge thing is well known a search on here will bring up lots of threads.

Or the oil could be from the positive crankcase ventilation system and leaking out somewhere around the turbo hose which is known to split. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto
