Well done England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 No negativity from me. The team won a first penalty shootout for 22 years and first ever in a World Cup. They made a semi final for the first time since 1990 and whilst we had poor moments and mistakes, we’ve played a good game with a young inexperienced team.

This team lead by Gareth Southgate have got so much more to give and will learn from this experience. Euros in 2 years and then another World Cup.

Football hasn’t come home but courage and professionalism has.

I really can’t understand the people on social media practically foaming at the mouth at England losing. Christ almighty get a grip. Maybe one day they’ll experience something real and hard hitting that puts it into perspective. I still get hyped and worried about England at big tournaments but not to that level. There’s always banter and wind ups to be expected but lines to be drawn with that too.

My dad was around for the time football came home in 66 but I really missed him being by my side watching the game tonight and always remember his advice after the first tournament we watched together (Euro 96): It’s just a game and not worth losing your head over. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Slightly off topic, but the BBC has just revealed that Gary Lineker gets paid £1,700,000 a year just to utter a lot of inane, repetitive waffle about football. Don't think that is good value for the telly licence fee payers.

. . . . and in addition to paying Gary Lineker, the BBC are still giving money to Boris Becker for his services at Wimbledon despite the fact that he's using every trick in the book to avoid a bankruptcy petition that's going through the UK courts. He's got debts in excess of £50million but apparently he's a Diplomat for the Central African Republic, so that means all that debt may be written off? That's ok then.
Morality is not a word that's at the fore of the BBC vocabulary it seems when spending our licence fees are concerned.

I wouldn't mind so much if the BBC put on some decent telly programmes.
