Can I make a couple of suggestions?
Buy some thin rubber sheet, and make pads to fit between the ladder and the door - serves two uses, one is to stop the fretting damaging the door, the other is to make a water tight seal.
Use stainless screws - I used dome head allen screws.

The weight of the ladder doesn't seem to bother the gas struts on the rear door.

Thanks Andy, I was going to do just what you said. I have various thickness of flat rubber sheeting that I can deploy. As for stainless bolts, I always do. I have a chandlers just down the road.

hadn't seen the original post - sorry
Have been lurking on the Ewok site - big mistake in so many ways.

Anyway about the ladder
Yes Mantec were the suppliers to the G4 fleet, my rear door was already drilled, but the ladder had been "removed" - nicked before sale. A plate with two nuts fits inside the door - this spreads the load, but can be fun to fit.
The coating was good from 2009 - 2017 in the not so hot English weather.

Ever tried to fit a full size roof box without a ladder? It was a god-send on many an occasion, to the extent if I could find one for the Disco sport it would be on my Christmas/Birthday/valentines list - along with the roof rails, roof bars, and underbody protection that are already ear marked. Oh and some 17" wheels with full mud tyres would be nice Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Andy " .... but the ladder had been "removed" - nicked before sale....... "

No your ladder was NOT nicked.

When the G4's, that didn't go on an expedition, were sold off, Land Rover had the ladders removed before sale.
This was due to warranty issues. Once sold LR did not know whether someone of 10St or 20St or 30St would use the ladder.
To save warranty claims the ladders were removed before the G4 vehicles were sold on to the public.

It suits my style of vehicle, especially with having the roof top tent Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
As I can clamber in either of the two sides, front and back doors.
Also, as my sign-off tag states ..... everything has a purpose.

Just seen this, i've just taken delivery of a brand new one for £160 all in. I'm getting there with it, whilst in Belgium two weeks ago i went along to Front Runner's showroom/warehouse and was taken round the place with No obligation to buy anything or any pressure.
