started noticed a noise that mainly occurs at lower speeds on small country roads, best way to describe it is not a squeaking but a creaking noise like a dry joint of some sort.

From inside the car drivers side it sounds almost like a plastic creaking sound from the dashboard, from outside I am quite confident I have pinpointed it down to the top of the driver side shocker, maybe above the top of the coil spring.

Is there some part in there that could cause creaking on slower roads and particularly when turning right at slow speeds ?

Don't notice this when driving on motorways etc, just wondering if anyone can pinpoint a spot that maybe a bit of grease can be slapped on to.
If there's a bump stop there, do they creak if broken, and is lubrication of that possible ?

Jacked the car up and high up on the coil spring is possibly a fracture, I say possibly because it could just be paint flaking off, if it is a crack, could it be causing the creaking noise, from what I am seeing, my logic says the noise does not seem to relate to what is seen in that image, but you never know . . . . .

anyone suffered a slightly broken spring and heard it creak (on the car, not the bed) ?

That looks like a hearty coating of rust to me.

Agreed - almost certainly not a crack as springs usually just break. The only way to find out is to get the wire brush out and see just how much rust there is. Cheers,

My 08MY had a creak/cracking noise coming from the drivers side at low speeds and slight undulations in the road. It was coming from where the body panels/trim meets at the base of the A-pillar iirc. All my dealer done was stick a screw driver in and create a bigger gap. Crude but effective, never reappeared.

I’m sure there was a technical service bulletin for it at the time.
