United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey
Anybody live near Wetherby?

Would anyone living near Wetherby have the time to drop in and do a quick visual check of the bodywork and service history on this Freelander? It is a bit of a trek for me so I only want to travel if it is half decent. I am finding a fair few of the dealers are more than a little conservative with the truth over the phone just to get you to view them.

If you live local, does this garage have a reasonable reputation? Any help would be much appreciated.

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Firenze Red

A Google Review

STEER CLEAR...
You have been warned, I recently purchased a fairly new car to find a few weeks later it had a dpf fault which cost over 2k to put right, these guys didn't want to know, the warranty covers up to 500 quid, finnanly after weeks of phone calls letters emails, trips, getting in touch with TRADING standards did I get anywhere, all the way to the dodgy finance company who wanted me to wait 8 weeks, biggest crooks ever, 8 weeks conveniently lying, by which point I would loose alot of my rights, after the fss obudsman got involved we finally are at the stage of compensation and refund territory.
Avoid finance with these guys!!
The whole fiasco has caused me hours of stress and thousands.

Apparently these guys have changed name recently suprise suprise.Had I not worked for a big financial company and had lots of free help and advice I would have been scammed.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Baltic Blue

I bought my Freelander 2 from them about a year ago and did not have any problems. I've driven over 20k miles, have had one service and the Haldex unit cleaned out.

They didn't have a service record when I bought it but prior to paying I contacted the supplying dealer and they confirmed it had been serviced by them. Once I bought the car they sent me a copy service book fully stamped, only one owner which was a good result.

I find that all dealers are much the same, once they have your cash it is hard to get them interested in problems. Before paying the balance the salesman I was dealing with put in mats and boot mat too. 2013 GS Baltic Blue - part exchanged now for Volvo V40

Many thanks for taking the time to reply. i read the google reviews and they seemed very hit and miss in terms of the cars they sell. I try and give companies a bit of leeway because if you sell enough, you will eventually get a bad one. One reviewer left negative feedback because he tried to sell a car back to them and they offered him less than he paid which is crazy!

I think it may be prudent to wait for another nearer home. It is amazing how many cars advertised as FSH have gaps of up to 33,000 miles. Most are serviced outside the main dealer network which makes it impossible to check if it is just a stamp missing. I always ask lots of questions before I travel which has usually worked for me but the popularity of Freelanders at the moment means traders which don't normally stock them are actively seeking them out to sell on.
