I am in the process of doing exactly that in my 2012 SD4. Having bought a gvif module and an extra cable it piggy backs onto the satnav dvd drive and switches to camera when in reverse (you need to have navigation switched on to enable it)
Pick up a reverse signal from a tail light and a switched live from the passenger footwell fuse box and that's it really. Not a cheap option though and if it wasn't for the fact that I didn't want to lose my steering wheel controls for my phone I would have bought an Android head unit to replace the original screen.
Beware of import tax on these units if you buy from Thailand etc (about 50% of the purchase price! Instructions are a bit vague too so be prepared for a bit of head scratching 😂
Cameras are a piece of cake and I chose a replacement hatch handle with combined camera - very oem. Cheers,
Raz

The GVIF module allows the reverse camera signal to be displayed on the satnav screen and can run up to 3 inputs. It is the only way to connect an external video feed to the satnav and you cannot run a reverse camera on the original satnav without it. Unfortunately where the camera is about £25 you need to add another zero to that price for the GVIF unit. I have one fitted to mine with 2 cameras, One normal reversing camera and a 2nd pointing straight down at the towball which allows you to be inch perfect when reversing onto a trailer. . Fitting is fairly easy, there are a load of wires with the GVIF but most are not used. The hardest part is probably running the wiring for the camera through the tailgate into the interior and forward to the satnav unit. I have mine wired up to a change over switch on the gearlever as I wanted to switch between the 2 cameras when reversing so mine does not come on automatically when in reverse which would be the normal default setting. It is not plug nad play and needs a bit of fiddling with the gvif settings once installed to get the best picture quality, however it is a very worthwhile mod imho. Thumbs Up
