Couldn´t get used to the missing steeringwheel controls on my Freelander S. Daring to do so after reading some posts on the forum I bought the missing parts on Ebay for little money. The radio controls worked fine straightaway. Then I had to visit the LR specialist in Coevorden, near the German border in the Netherlands, for a problem with the engine. They used their computer to fix the problem with the engine and while doing so enabled the cruise control. Only a few taps on their computer screen where needed.
Very friendly service and they told me that the Terrain Response could be done in the same way. It seems that all " the Knowledge" is in the car´s computer and the only thing they have to do is to tell the car´s computer the new component is there.
Might be of some use to anybody.

Generally the software has most of the cars features in it, and only needs to be told which features are present. This master list is the Car Configuration File (CCF) and is stored in the BCM and IPC.

There are a huge number of features that can be added, there is a pretty dedicated team on here opening them up, have a search for StuartC, I've said it before, by the time he has finished his Freelander will be a range rover.
