I fitted an LED lamp to my interior ages ago. No problem with dim glows at all.
I did have a similar problem with led reversing lights fitted to a Peugeot 206SW. Took the LED's out and went back to incandescents.

Hi Blitzer. I have the same problem with the interior lights staying dimly lit ALL THE TIME; I do hope a forum member can tell us what is wrong and how to fix it.
.
I've fitted an interior light above the loadspace linked to the standard luggage light, that LED goes out and stops out.
.

Heres hoping Fred, ALL THE TIME isn't good.

If the weather wasn't so bad i'd swap the two interior bulbs around and see if the problem moved, just thinking .... I haven't checked if the rear interior stays on Rolling Eyes

All my LED interior and number plate lights go out straight away, a few members seem to have the same issue. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

The front overhead LED in mine also glows dimly when driving - but it is the only one. I converted the interior lighting of mine into a tart's boudoir by fitting all blue LEDs and I quite like having the dim blue light on whilst driving. Sad I know, but hey, who cares! Very Happy John

Checked my overhead lights tonight (LED ones) and no light after switching off or going out when starting the ignition. They behave exactly as the old filament ones did.

Just checking here, but when it is said they stay on all the time, is this even after locking and shut down of the system, or when they should have gone off when the engine is running? Is this just a LED fitment problem or with old filament lamps?

If it happens when shutdown and when with old lamps this is surely a dealer problem? 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red

Replaced all the 5W wedge type today, great improvement all round although the wing mirror ones were a s Censored Censored t to open up. Still confused however on which festoon type to buy for the boot and overhead internal lights? Any advice greatly received such as number of LEDs per lamp, 42mm or 44mm etc. And as for the reverse polarity reading lamps - reverse polarity?????

Thanks

CG, I think it is a HSE thing as I was able to purchase one of those units from Duckworth's to fit in my 07 SE (now gone) and as the 09 SE was fitted with the 3 light unit, fitted the unit removed from the 07 on trade-in to the rear light position and much used by rear seat passengers.

I used 42mm festoon type LED replacements from Fizzmo. they fit the interior lights perfectly. One will also fit the boot light. You do have to stretch the holder a little, but I had no problem. If you do not wish to do that, a 40mm or even a 38mm will fit ok. 2011 XS SD4, Indus Silver (Getting to love it more and more)

Martin, used Fizzmo a few times now - great service via eBay. Do I go with 3 or 6 LED's per festoon lamp? Want a decent amount of light but not on a Blackpool illuminations scale.

I went with 6 in the boot (fizzmo), but I think I overdone it, looks like it came from Wembley stadium. It does give of great light in the dark though, i can see what I'm doing so I'm not going to change it.

Used 3 for the interior gives a nice light but maybe could've went a bit brighter. Think it was Xenon white I went with.

I'll get a pic of the interior tonight Thumbs Up 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Hi Fred,
What is involved in fitting an interior light above the loadspace as I have a spare unit I could use for this.
I would then propose to remove the lamp (Bulbs grow and lamps glow as my boss always told me whilst I was an apprentice) in the original loadspace fitting so that I could via the on/off switch of the replacement unit decide when I needed illumination in the load space.
This is important to me as whilst acting as a Safety Radio Car on rally's I switch off the interior lights to reduce battery load, as we are in and out of the car at regular intervals which means the OME loadspace fitting comes on every time a door is opened and stays on when it is not required.
Any tips would be appreciated.

Try Steve at advanced factors (site sponsor) he has a varied selection and at a decent price. Thumbs Up

Replaced my interior ones with LEDS bought from hids4u another site sponsor, I changed my interior roof lights, front two map reading lights, drivers side white passenger side red, front footwell lights also changed, at night it looks like daylight inside.

Going to do same in swmbos freelander 2 all mine were in my D3.
