I would think most early FL2 cars will be Cat D for what would seem back in the day as just minor damage if it now involves claim handlers (Yorkshire Dialect Meaning - Thieves in suits) .

Remember that written of means that the cost of repair is around 60% of the value of the vehicle so a £10k car with not a lot of visible damage can be written off with a £4k repair bill. My brother in law had a bump in his Jimny which wrote it off so they paid him and then he bought it off the insurance company and fixed it up himself. Ended up in profit!
